Day 1

Inauguration featured the launch of the DOFP Website; Launch of Meg Tea Processing Unit & Meg Tea Packaging; Launch of the Meghalaya Plastic Challenge Cloth Bags

Culinary Sessions were held on all 3 Days with Celebrity Chefs from the Indian Culinary Forum conducting interactive demo sessions as well as seminars on cooking & food technology; The Chef Wars Semi-Finals and Finals for Professional and Amateur categories

The Conference Zone had Industry Experts from various line Ministries, Government Departments, Research Institutions, Universities, Financial Institutions, Entrepreneurs and Food Industry Organizations/ Companies holding interactive sessions for participating exhibitors on issues and market potential of food processing in the North-east as well as innovative technologies for furthering the growth of food processing in the region.

Day 1 - Day 3

Business Meets were facilitated between the participating members of the Hosted Buyer Program and all relevant exhibitors. The Meets resulted in MOU signings as well as business deals worth close to 24 crores for the Exhibitors.

Day 3

The Chief Minister’s Conclave was the highlight of the NEFS 2019 with Chief Ministers of the NE States in the presence of both the Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs and Union Minister of State for Food Processing discussing the path for charting the course of Food Processing in the NE

Outcome of the Show

ROUND TABLE CONFERENCE ON TAPPING THE NORTH EAST POTENTIAL IN THE CONTEXT OF ACT-EAST

  • The Ambassador of Costa Rica expressed interest in linking Pineapple exporters with India as Costa Rica is the highest exporter of Pineapple in the world
  • Ambassador of Georgia stated that they had an experience of wine making for the last 8000 years and would be interested to explore opportunities for economic cooperation and share their wine making experience
  • Amit Lohani, Founder of FIFI highlighted the potentiality of the region in terms of organic farming and wine industry and expressed willingness to explore and take this relationship to the next level.
  • A. Ahuja, PPFI highlighted the Exhibitor’s challenges in respect of transportation of products outside the state which stands as a bottleneck for building a business with the rest of the country.

BUSINESS DEALS GENERATED - BUSINESS DEALS WORTH 24 CRORES GENERATED

  • MEGHALAYA: A few companies like Country spices, Smoky Falls, COLKS, Tinash Agro, etc. received orders for Products such as Black peppercorns, bay leaf, turmeric, cinnamon, honey etc from both International and national buyers including hospitality groups amounting to roughly Rs. 10 crores worth of business.
  • NAGALAND: Saucy joe’s sales were about Rs 20,000 but orders worth Rs. 8 lakhs through FIFI have been dispatched; Tsuipu Foods, Pristine and Cold Mountain Beverages generated about Rs 90,000 worth of sales.
  • MIZORAM: Zo spice did more than 5 crores to Korea, Japan, UAE and other Indian states; Tribe land coffee Mizoram has also received orders from national and international buyers. Amongst the states, Mizoram recorded the highest orders grossing more than Rs 12 crores.
  • ARUNACHAL: Arunachal Pradesh has received orders worth more than Rs. 30 lakhs with wine being one of the major products.
  • SIKKIM: sales of Rs 20,000 were made.
  • ASSAM: Each stall made sales of roughly 1 lakh each amounting to about 100 lakhs for the 3-day event. In terms of sales post event Assam recorded 3 crores of sales to both national and international buyers.
